FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What size Revol should I get?

+
What does proper crate sizing look like?
Dogs should be able to comfortably stand up, turn around, and lie down. There shouldn't be too much additional space.

How do I size my dog for a crate?
You will need to compare your dog's weight, height, and length with the crate size details. Be sure to read through the "Important factors to consider" section below to make the best choice for you and your pup. For tips on measuring your pup, check out to blog post below.

If your dog is a puppy, you will need to estimate their full grown size. To do this we recommend speaking with a dog professional such as your breeder or vet. Knowing the parents measurements can be helpful indicators. There are also helpful online tools to help estimate your dog's full grown size, but we can't guarantee the accuracy of these tools.

*Please note Doodle breeds can have a significant range in sizes and tend to be quite tall. Be sure you speak with your breeder to understand what size range (toy, mini, medium, standard, etc) and estimated measurements they're expected to fall under and what those measurements are.

Important factors to consider
  • Each individual is unique and may be larger or smaller than the average size.
  • Many online height measurements are to the withers (shoulders). It is important to have your pups measurements to the top of the head when sizing for a crate.
  • Additional height is lost if adding a bed/pad. Check the dimensions of the bed you plan to use with the crate.
  • If your pup is in between sizes, we recommend sizing up. Dogs tend to do better with too much space rather than too little.
  • When the side door is in the open position, an inch or two of height will be lost.
  • Revol & Evolv comes with a puppy divider so Revol/Evolv can grow with your pup
  • Males tend to be larger than females for most breeds

Revol Materials

+
Our unique diamond-shaped wire mesh is made of steel and coated so that it is rust resistant. Steel wire is strong and allows the crate to be open/airy to prevent overheating as opposed to closed plastic carriers.
Revol is made with beautiful aluminum that is light, very strong, and rust-resistant. The nylon plastic we use is one of the strongest plastics on the market. Our addition of fibers to the plastic makes it virtually indestructible. Plus, our materials are non-toxic and meet the strict guidelines of the baby industry in terms of the presence of heavy metal and phthalates.

Your pup's safety is important to us, so we've done everything we can to make Revol a safe, comfortable home for your dog.

What features are affected when the puppy divider is installed?

+
While the puppy divider is installed, the tray cannot be fully removed, the side door cannot be opened, and the Snooz Pad cannot be used. Once your pup is crate trained and the divider is removed, you’ll be able to access these features and add the Snooz Pad to the Revol.

My dog tends to chew on their crate - is Revol a good fit?

+
We do not recommend allowing your pup to chew on the Revol dog crate to ensure their safety. Chewing can be a sign of anxiety or boredom, and we recommend addressing these issues and ensuring your pup is fully crate trained before leaving them unsupervised in the crate. The Groov can be a helpful tool in redirecting boredom, and this blog has helpful information on ways to reduce anxiety.

How does the Revol collapse?

+
This depends on your Revol size, as the designs are slightly different. Below is a description of how to lower the Small and Medium Revol and the Intermediate and Large Revol.

Small and Medium
  • Remove the puppy divider and/or bed as needed
  • Rotate the ceiling handle 90 degrees and gently lower the ceiling to the base
  • Lower front and rear panels to rest on top of the ceiling

Intermediate and Large
  • Remove the puppy divider and/or bed as needed
  • Carefully unlock the top locks on the side panels and lower them one at a time to their collapsed positions
  • Rotate the ceiling handle clockwise and gently lower the ceiling to the base
  • Lower front and back panels to rest on top of the ceiling

Can I use the Snooz Pad with the puppy divider installed?

+
The Pillo is designed for compatibility with the puppy divider, while the Snooz Pad is intentionally designed not to be compatible.
Young puppies are more prone to accidents and chewing. Pillo can be used with the puppy divider while your pup is potty and crate training as Pillo is designed to better hold up to chewing, is waterproof, and is entirely machine washable. While the Snooz design is focused on increased comfort and should be introduced after the training phase is over and the divider is removed. If you prefer the Snooz Pad in the long run, you can use old towels or sheets in the meantime—something that keeps them comfortable, but you won’t mind getting ruined.

Why are the Small and Medium Revol designs different than the Intermediate and Large?

+
The Revol Dog Crate is currently available in 4 sizes, which were all released at different times. The Small and Medium were released in 2018 and 2019 with the same design. pluswms.com spent the next couple of years re-designing the Revol to accommodate larger breed dogs and to integrate feedback from our Pet Guardians. The Large Revol was released with an updated design in 2021. The Intermediate Revol was released the following year in 2022 with the same general design, but features an updated assembly method.

Will you be offering new Revol sizes in the future?

+
Currently, we do not plan to expand the Revol to include additional sizes. If you're interested in seeing additional sizes (like XS or XL), please get in touch with our Care Team and let us know!

Is a puppy divider included with Revol?

+

Why is Revol safer?

+
We designed the Revol dog crate with non-toxic and high-quality materials with baby industry standards in mind––making it perfect for puppies and their humans.

The diamond-shaped wire mesh helps prevent injuries to paws and jaws. It has strong pillars to prevent pups from getting between panels and injuring themselves. Revol's rounded edge design helps prevent bumps and bruises for both pets and humans.

Revol is made of a solid single-piece frame with thick gauge steel wire mesh, high-strength aluminum, and reinforced plastic.

How does Evolv sizing compare to Revol?

+
The sizing is different for Revol and Evolv, as the crates themselves are different dimensions. +
Yup! Evolv comes with a puppy divider just like Revol.

How durable is Evolv?

+

How many boxes does Evolv ship in?

+
Most Evolv sizes ship in one box. The XL size ships in 2 boxes.

Can I use the Evolv crate for animals other than dogs?

What is the Evolv Playpen Mode?

+
Playpen mode allows for use of the Evolv as a playpen for your puppy, by removing the included ceiling panel and replacing it with an open frame (sold separately). This mode allows for better bonding with your pup, and should only be used under direct supervision.

*You can purchase your Evolv Playpen Mode Frame here.
